It’s a few days late, and I know not many people will bother to read this. But that’s okay. These type of reflection blogs are mostly for the writers themselves. So this is my reflection blog on 2011 and my dreams for 2012.
In short, 2011 was fantastic. Never have I had a year that flew by so fast even though it was so mellow. By mellow, I mean that I didn’t have many exciting “events” that I anticipated.. I graduated the year before, started college the year before, turned the not so exciting age of 19, and pretty much maintained everything else. Even though nothing headline worthy may have happened, I’d say I still experienced so much joy and excitement.
-February I kicked off the month with a nerf gun war for my birthday.
-June I got to watch some of my best friends graduate high school.
-August I inched my way to the top of Angel’s Landing at Zion National Park and swung off a rope tied to a tree into crisp water.
-November I cooked the entire Thanksgiving feast for my grandparents and snagged some deals for Black Friday.
-December I snowboarded on the Rockies, threw a tacky sweater Christmas party, and spent some much needed QT with the family.
& to bring in the new years, I cuddled up on the couch with The Hunger Games novel and a blanket.
Growing up, I was always seen as more “mature”.. often times I’ve been told I even have an “old soul”. Well, this past year I saw many of the adults in my life begin to look and treat me as if I actually were an adult. I had multiple opportunities to be on my own this year. I have my own apartment, I organized my own special events, I did my own financing, I learned more about.. everything. But the best part? I truly trapped my own inner child and kept it there. 2011 was a great year for me to learn how to be an adult, without losing my inner child. I look forward to 2012 to be another year of growth and a chance for me to have new experiences, new love, & new dreams while still remembering who I am and what I believe in. Thank you God for all the blessings!
Happy New Years and may the odds be ever in your favor.
