One of my resolutions this year is to write more. I don’t mean writing on tumblr, or writing on any specific networking venue, but to write. Whether it’s on an untitled word document, or a scrap paper that I found in my notebook. I’m challenging myself to sit and write for five minutes straight. No filter, no editing, and no prethinking. Just me, my mind, and this laptop.
That being said, here goes a relating challenge that I think, wait… okay yes, I’ve decided.. I am officially challenging myself to write and “publish” a blog a day about.. whatever!
Today’s topic: polar bears.
Why polar bears? Because I just asked my roommate what today’s topic should be and she immediately said, “POLAR BEARS!” So polar bears it is.
First thing that comes to mind are these two polar bear posters hanging up on my roommates side of our room. The bears are so cute! They look so warm and cozy sleeping slash tumbling on the icy snow. But apparently they are actually ferocious. Who knew! It seems that being cute and cuddly is their charm that could easily deceive me if I were to encounter one live.
Now polar bears, though cute, are not my favorite type of bear. I just ADORE panda bears and I think big black bears are just the cutest little (ironic word choice) animals. Has anyone seen that internet picture of the black bear with one arm extended outwards and the other gracefully sitting on his chest with the obviously photoshopped words “But soft, what light through yonder window breaks” blaring across the bear? Hilarious! But I digress on the topic of polar bears.
Polar bears amaze me. They spend most of their life in water, freezing water by the way, don’t actually have white fur (they have what’s called “hollow” fur which reflects the bright sun), and can kill an animal (especially me) with ONE blow of their paw. Wow.
I suppose if I ever encountered a polar bear, they would be behind a glass window at a zoo of some sort. But if I ever saw one with no saving wall between me and the bear, I’d hope that my never-ending joy in petting animals would work for them.
